Crewops — Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These terms govern your use of Crewops, an iOS app published by Hawk & Mason Studios. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
Hawk & Mason Studios is a trading name of Hakan Aydın, an independent developer based in Türkiye. Contact: hello@hawkmason.com.
What Crewops is
Crewops is a personal planning tool for airline crew. It reads a duty roster you already have, applies a flight-time-limitation rule set you select, and shows you the results, together with a logbook, a document wallet and health planning features. It runs on your device and stores your data there.
What it is not
This section matters more than the rest, so it is written plainly.
- It is not your operator's system of record. Your airline's roster, its crewing system and its operations manual govern your duty. Where Crewops and your operator disagree, your operator is right and you should act on their figure.
- It is not a compliance tool and its rule sets are not certified. The limits are compiled from published regulation and are labelled inside the app as unverified. They may be incomplete, may lag a regulatory change, and do not include derogations, approvals or collective agreements specific to your operator.
- It is not your official logbook. The logbook and its exports are a personal record derived from what you confirm. Keeping an official logbook to the standard your authority requires remains your responsibility.
- It is not a medical device and gives no medical advice. The fatigue indicator, sleep readings, circadian plan, radiation dose estimate and coaching content are informational. They do not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, and the app never states that anyone is fit or unfit to fly. Decisions about your fitness for duty belong to you and to your operator's processes. Questions about medication, sleep disorders or your medical certificate belong with an aeromedical examiner.
- It is not a reporting channel of its own. Unless you switch on sharing, or file, sign or complete something as the privacy policy describes, Crewops sends nothing you enter to your airline, your regulator or anyone else, apart from the crew code and phone identifier it sends to read your notices, records and documents where your airline licenses Academy or Library. If your airline licenses Crewops Safety, a report you file there goes to your airline's safety office, not to a regulator, and it is not a declaration that you are fit to fly. Sickness notifications, and anything else your operator requires through its own system, still go through that system.
Your data and your account
There is no account. Your data is stored on your device and is yours; we do not receive it, apart from what you send to your airline's products (see the privacy policy), and cannot recover it for you. You can export it or delete it at any time from inside the app.
By default your own data lives only on your device, so losing the device, deleting the app or resetting the phone deletes it with it. If you switch iCloud sync on, an encrypted copy of part of it is kept in your own iCloud account and can come back on a new phone signed into the same Apple Account; your sleep entries, fatigue self-ratings and IMSAFE answers are never included, and deleting the app does not delete that copy. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not copied, and how to remove it.
Either way, keeping your own copy is your responsibility: the encrypted iCloud copy depends on your Apple Account and your iCloud Keychain, and we can neither read it nor restore it for you. The app provides the export to make an independent copy possible.
Crewops Pro subscription terms
- Crewops Pro is an auto-renewable subscription offered monthly or yearly.
- The current price and period are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, as supplied by the App Store.
- A free trial (currently one month) is offered at the start where the App Store makes you eligible for it; the length shown in the app before you subscribe is the one that applies. If you subscribe during a free trial, the unused part of that trial is forfeited when the purchase begins.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage the subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms; we cannot issue them.
- If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, the UK or Türkiye, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days. Apple is the seller of record for every Crewops subscription, so that right — and any refund under it — is exercised with Apple, through reportaproblem.apple.com or your Apple Account. We are not able to take the request ourselves, but write to us if Apple does not answer and we will help you chase it.
- A subscription belongs to the Apple Account that bought it and can be restored on any device signed in with that account.
- Importing a roster, viewing your duties, and keeping and exporting your logbook do not require Pro. We will not put your own records behind a subscription.
Use of the app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
Your airline's crew portal
If you use the crew portal import, you confirm that the credentials are your own and that you are permitted to access that system. Crewops sends them to your airline's system and nowhere else. Your access to that system is governed by your airline, not by us, and we are not responsible for its availability, its content or the consequences of your using it.
For airlines
An airline (the operator) can license Crewops products for its crews and its departments: Crewops Safety, Crewops Academy, Crewops Library and Crewops Insight. This section is for the operator. Crew members use these products under their airline's instructions.
- Licence. A licence is per operator and per product. A product the operator has not licensed does not open for it. The operator code carries the date it ends, and stops working then.
- Operator code and API keys. The operator code opens the airline's browser panel and the airline's records. API keys made from it open the same records, for the same products and until the same date, for the operator's own systems. The operator keeps both secret and is responsible for what is done with them. In the browser panel it can make and revoke API keys, replace the webhook secret and replace the web report link. A new operator code is issued by us on request. Issuing one does not switch off an earlier code, which works until its end date; API keys can be revoked at once in the browser panel.
- Webhooks. The operator names one https address and the events it wants. Each event is sent to that address, signed, once: if the address answers with an error or does not answer within five seconds, that event is not sent again. Each event carries the record concerned, so the address receives crew data and is the operator's to secure. The panel keeps the outcome of the last 20 deliveries. The operator's system can read the same records by API.
- Crew data. The operator decides why the data its crews send is collected and for how long; Hawk & Mason Studios hosts it and processes it on the operator's instructions. The privacy policy says what the products send and store.
- Exports and authorities. The CSV and E5X exports are the operator's own files. Crewops submits nothing to any authority; any report, notification or submission to one is made by the operator.
- Independent software. References to regulation, such as a time limit, a classification or an export format, say what a feature is built around. They are not an approval or certification by any authority, and the operator's own procedures and records prevail over what Crewops shows. Crewops Insight assesses fatigue risk from rosters; it does not judge whether anyone is fit to fly.
- Use counts. For each airline we count how often the browser panel is opened, which sections are used, how many analyses and exports are run, how many reports, crew records, course completions, documents and ratings its workspace holds, and whether it has set up a webhook or API keys, to see whether the service is in use and to support the airline's team. The counts hold no names, crew codes or file content. Panel counts are kept for 400 days.
- Records. The operator's records stay until the operator asks us to delete them, also after a licence ends, except post-flight ratings, which are deleted after two years. Access, new codes, deletion and exports are asked for by email; see support. We keep a list of the codes we issue, with the name of the person at the airline who holds each one, its role, products and end date; the list does not hold the codes themselves.
Liability
Crewops is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for loss arising from reliance on its calculations, from data stored only on a device, or from any decision about duty, rest or fitness taken on the basis of what the app shows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
Changes, termination and governing law
We may update the app and these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and material changes will be flagged in the app. You may stop using Crewops at any time by deleting it. These terms are governed by Turkish law, without affecting mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
